Biomedical Scientist – Manchester

Location: Manchester Royal Infirmary

Salary: £34,000 – £42,000 depending on experience and specialization

Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our expanding Clinical Biochemistry team at Manchester Royal Infirmary. You’ll work in our state-of-the-art laboratory supporting critical diagnostic services across Greater Manchester, playing a vital role in patient care through accurate and timely testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex biochemical analyses on clinical samples
  • Validate and authorize test results
  • Troubleshoot analytical problems
  • Maintain quality control standards and participate in quality improvement
  • Support the on-call service for urgent clinical requests
  • Participate in training junior staff and students
  • Contribute to method development and verification

Requirements

  • BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Experience in a clinical biochemistry setting
  • Knowledge of automated analytical platforms
  • Understanding of quality management systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
